Study Foxglove

$250.00

2024 | oil on canvas board | 21.1×21.1×2cm | lightweight aluminium gold finished frame

While not originally part of the 'Gilded Wildflowers' collection it takes the same inspiration. I paint wildflowers(some call weeds) and treat them as if they were roses, and tulips and frame them in gold. This work was created during my Artist's Residency in Cygnet at Balfour House.

Definitely an invasive species in Tasmania, and poisonous too if ingested, but there is just something so beautiful about a foxglove. The slight variations in the colours always intrigue me and I just had to have a play with this study of yellow turning to pink.

* This work is signed on the front of the canvas, on the back of the board and the back of the frame.
