A Crown of Nostalgia & Luck

$1,200.00

2026 | oil on canvas | 63×43×5.6cm | timber frame

This work draws on memories of childhood spent weaving small, fleeting treasures from the natural world such as flower crowns, bracelets, and imagined talismans made alone and alongside friends. These creations were often fragile, rarely lasting beyond the afternoon, but their impermanence was never the point. What endured was the quiet joy of making, the intimacy of time spent outdoors, and the simple act of noticing.

Set against the rich folds of fabric, the crown becomes both an object and a symbol, both of care, play, and the human impulse to gather and shape beauty from what is at hand. The delicate clover flowers, bound together with intention, echo the tenderness of those early acts of creation, while also holding a sense of transience.

In revisiting this ritual, the painting reflects on the value of small, unrecorded moments—where creativity is instinctive, time slows, and connection to place and memory feels most immediate.
