This work was created as a study. I painted three different but similar peonies with three different coloured background under-paintings. I wanted to see if there was a visible difference between them once finished. There is, although subtle and more visible in the flowers themselves than the backgrounds. And I don't particularly like one more than the others but I think they do give them a slightly different feel which I can use in future paintings.
* This is not framed and it does not have a wire but it is strong enough to lean on a shelf or amongst books and trinkets on a bookshelf.
